Barça Set to Play First Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
The club confirmed they are set to host at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in domestic competition over two years following their departure so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity with 45,401 fans are permitted inside as per the current authorization. When completed, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed finished work included a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou in early November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt on 9 December at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
